AnswerTrace docs

Stop guessing what AI says about you. Start fixing it.

AnswerTrace is the visibility platform for AI search. It tells you which questions ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Google AIO are answering without you, hands you the fix as a publish-ready artifact, then proves the fix worked when AI starts picking you up.

Why this matters

Buyers in your category have changed how they shortlist. Before they visit a single website, they ask an AI:

  • “Best CRM for an Indian D2C team?”
  • “Cashfree vs Razorpay for SMB merchants?”
  • “Kaun sa CRM acha hai startups ke liye?”

The AI returns two or three brands. If you’re in the list, you’re in the consideration set. If you’re not, you never made the funnel. SEO rankings on Google don’t predict any of this, because the answers AI gives are generated, not retrieved from a results page.

That gap is what AnswerTrace closes. We run the buyer questions through the engines your buyers actually use, measure where you stand, diagnose why, and surface the specific content and citation work to ship next.

What AnswerTrace measures

Every scan runs across four AI engines, gated by plan:

EngineAvailable from
ChatGPTFree
Google AIO (AI Overviews)Starter
ClaudeGrowth
PerplexityPro

Pro is the only plan that runs all four on every scan.

For each engine, AnswerTrace runs the buyer-question pack for your category, between 10 and 200 prompts depending on plan. Prompts are tagged with buyer intent so the report can break performance down per intent: Brand, Core (category discovery), Use-case, Commercial (pricing and value), Trust, Competitor (comparisons and alternatives).

Languages depend on plan too: English on every plan, Hinglish on Starter and up, Hindi on Growth and up, +1 buyer-chosen Indian language (Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Marathi, Kannada, Gujarati, Punjabi, or Malayalam) on Pro. Enterprise unlocks all eleven.

The output of every scan is one composite number from 0 to 100, the AI Presence Score, blended from four sub-scores:

ComponentWeightWhat it measures
Visibility35%How often you appear and where, across every prompt and engine
Brand authority25%Wikipedia, Wikidata, G2, G2 rating, Reddit, press / newsroom
Sentiment20%Positive, neutral, negative tone of sentences that name you
Citation readiness20%Schema, llms.txt, FAQ, canonical, robots, and other on-site signals

The legend bands you’ll see in the report read Leader (80+), Strong (60-79), Fair (40-59), Low (below 40).

The loop, in detail

AnswerTrace runs a four-step operating cycle. Each scan is one revolution of the loop, and the recommendation rate compounds with every revolution.

1. Measure

Each scan baselines you against the engines you have on your plan, the prompts in your category, and the language layer your buyers use. The Scorecard surfaces the headline number, a three-stage funnel (Discovery → Shortlist → Win), the per-engine and per-product split, and your rank in the category.

2. Diagnose

Five Diagnose sub-sections (Where you’re losing, Competitive landscape, Content readiness, Brand authority, How AI describes you) decompose the score into specific gaps. Free reports show Where you’re losing plus the locked teasers; the other four unlock on Starter and up.

3. Act

The Recommended roadmap rolls up every detected finding into buckets, This week / This month / This quarter, with effort and impact ranges per card. On Growth and up, each finding includes a Generate artifact button that drafts the asset (FAQ JSON-LD, comparison page, case study starter, press kit, glossary entry, page brief). Hit Publish to CMS to push it to WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, or open a GitHub PR. Quota is 3 artifacts per month on Growth, unlimited on Pro.

4. Verify and monitor

Re-scan (weekly on Starter and Growth, twice a week on Pro). Verify your fixes compares scan-level AEO, Content Readiness, and Brand Authority before vs after each resolved finding. What improved or dropped is the broader change feed across every prompt and engine, with Tier 1 events firing as Slack alerts on Pro (within a per-engine noise band of ChatGPT 2 / AIO 3 / Claude 3 / Perplexity 5 points). Competitor gains flags when a rival took your #1 on a specific prompt. Attribution is the Pro entitlement that will close the loop from AI mention to website visit (shipping soon).

Each revolution of the loop sharpens the next. The same prompts re-run on a fresh scan let you trace which artifact you shipped is associated with which score move.

The four docs sections

The docs mirror the product’s left nav: a Scorecard at the top, then three operational legs, Diagnose, Fix, Monitor.

Scorecard

The hero. Your AI Presence Score, the three-stage funnel (Discovery, Shortlist, Win), the engine breakdown, the per-product split, and your rank in the category. Read it first.

Open the scorecard →

Diagnose

Five sub-sections that break the score into specific gaps. Where you’re losing (any plan), Competitive landscape, Content readiness, Brand authority, How AI describes you (all Starter and up).

Diagnose your visibility →

Fix

Every detected finding, bucketed by horizon. Generate the artifact on Growth and up, publish in one click to WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, or as a GitHub PR. Verify Your Fixes shows the before-vs-after on any paid plan.

Ship the fix →

Monitor

The change feed, competitor movement, and attribution. Re-scan weekly on Starter and Growth, twice a week on Pro. Tier 1 events fire as Slack alerts on Pro and roll up in a weekly digest on Growth.

Monitor and attribute the lift →

Who AnswerTrace is for

The platform is built around three audiences:

  • B2B SaaS teams who lose the AI shortlist before buyers reach the pricing page. The diagnostic tells you which signals competitors have that you don’t (use-case content, citation gaps, schema, entity consistency).
  • D2C and ecommerce brands whose buyers ask shopping questions in English, Hinglish, Hindi, and regional languages. Each language returns a different answer; AnswerTrace tracks them all and surfaces the fix per query.
  • Agencies running AEO for clients. White-label reports, branded PDFs, pitch brands for prospects, and a per-client recommendation rate dashboard live across every account.
