Frequently asked questions
Is AnswerTrace a content editor like Surfer or Clearscope?
It has a built-in editor, but it works differently. Surfer and Clearscope give you a blank canvas that scores your writing against a target keyword. AnswerTrace starts from the gaps costing you AI recommendations, drafts the finished asset for each one, and opens it in a Preview / Edit view where you refine the copy, then publishes it to your CMS. So you do get an in-app editor; it just generates the draft for you first instead of leaving you to write from scratch.
Do I need a separate tool to write the content AnswerTrace recommends?
No. Every finding has a Generate artifact action that drafts the piece, a Preview / Edit view where you edit it in-app, and a Publish action that pushes it to WordPress, Webflow, Contentful, or opens a GitHub pull request. A separate writing tool is optional; it is not required to produce, edit, or ship the content.
Can I review and edit what AnswerTrace generates before it goes live?
Yes. Every generated draft opens in a Preview / Edit view. Switch to Edit to change the copy, and your changes are marked as edited. Nothing publishes automatically, you decide when and where each piece ships.
What content can AnswerTrace generate?
Comparison pages (you versus a named competitor), use-case and segment pages, FAQ blocks with JSON-LD schema, case-study starters, glossary entries, press-kit copy, and page briefs. Generation is included on paid plans: 3 artifacts per month on Growth, unlimited on Pro.
Does AnswerTrace replace my SEO tools?
No, it complements them. AnswerTrace measures and improves how AI assistants (ChatGPT, Google’s AI answers, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini) recommend your brand, then drafts and ships the content to close those gaps. Keep your traditional SEO stack for keyword rankings and on-page optimization; AnswerTrace covers the AI-answer layer they do not.
